Project Overview

A2F Consulting supported the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Natural Resources (World Bank-funded) in assessing market potential for economic activities in the Kotu Stream area in The Gambia. The project aimed to identify sustainable livelihood opportunities—particularly for women and youth—while strengthening community resilience to climate impacts.

Work Developed

• Conducted a comprehensive market assessment of viable economic activities across green and non-green sectors
• Performed desk research to identify and prioritize industries with potential to support local livelihoods
• Executed fieldwork, including stakeholder interviews, focus group discussions, and surveys with local communities
• Analyzed data to identify employment opportunities and key constraints affecting target populations
• Developed tailored recommendations and capacity-building measures to promote sustainable economic development

The assignment was implemented over 5 months and combined analytical work with extensive field engagement. A2F delivered evidence-based recommendations to support sustainable livelihoods and inform program design under the WACA ResIP 2 initiative, with a strong focus on inclusivity and climate resilience.
