World Bank Publishes Survey Results on Food Insecurity in Central America by A2F Consulting

A2F Consulting is pleased to announce the publication of the World Bank report, “The Complex Links Between Food Security, Migration, and Fragility in Northern Central America.”

The study examines how food insecurity, migration dynamics, and fragility interact across El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, shedding light on the factors that drive household vulnerability and influence migration decisions. The findings reveal a strong relationship between food insecurity and migration pressures, while demonstrating how fragile conditions can intensify risks and reduce households’ capacity to cope with economic, environmental, and social shocks.

A2F Consulting contributed to this important assignment by designing and implementing a quantitative survey covering 1,291 households across the three countries. The data collected through this effort provided critical evidence for the report’s analysis and recommendations.

The study offers practical insights for policymakers and development partners, highlighting opportunities to strengthen resilience, improve food security interventions, and support more sustainable development outcomes throughout Northern Central America. It underscores the importance of addressing the root causes of vulnerability through integrated approaches that link food security, livelihoods, and social stability.

A2F Consulting is proud to have supported this research and its contribution to advancing evidence-based policy discussions on migration, resilience, and development in the region.
